On the cover of a magazine?
Today Josie AKA Yum Yucky posted this on Facebook “I’m really bored with celebs on magazine covers. I want to see normal peeps on covers & read their stories. Just sayin’.”
Got me thinking!
How right is she. Why do celebreties and famous people always have to be on the front of magazine covers? What’s so wrong with putting normal people. Just regular ol’ people on the front of magazine covers. It would be great to see people who are working hard, making mindstyle and lifestyle changes in their lives. How amazing and inspiring would that be? To read stories on a weekly basis in the news and covers of magazines of people who are making real and active changes in their lives.
I would certainly inspire me and put a smile on my face. I mean who wouldn’t want to see faces like these on covers of magazines in bookstores and check-out lines at the grocery store?
I mean how great would it be so see all of these faces and so many more on the covers of our magazines; sharing our stories with the world, and inspiring and motivating you and change for a better, healthier world!
What do you think about this?!
Would you like to see non-celebrities on the covers of magazines?

Thanks Tina! They really should
Such a great idea! We need a self-published mag for real people. Also, my head is not so giant in real life. lol
Self-published mag is a fabulous idea! Let’s work on it
TOTALLY agree! It would be so inspiring to see non-celebs on magazines.

oh yes girl
Something that is needed!
Those pics of you guys make my eyeballs MUCH happier to look at. I see a skinny wafe or a celebrity and all I can think is how much money they had for botox and training and lipo. Even the celeb mommas are NOT inspiring because they all got fixed, too. And now there’s the whole booty injection thing going on. It’s ridiculous!! I still read mags ‘n stuff, but most of them need to hear our cry for what WE really want. sheesh.

Then I’d tell all my friends how I totally met you!
Seriously though, I’d buy more magazines if they had “real” people with real stories.
awe thank you brokeeee! You’re the best
We need real people, with real skin and real bodies!
I love that top photo of you! So cover-worthy. And is that a tutu around your neck? Haha you’re too much.

Hellll yeah that’s an awesommme idea! About time too! Great idea! BTW, better late than never, right? but I’m just now jumpin into this fit bloggin world. What fun all of you seemed to have had at the recent conference. what about starting a FIT BLOGGIN’ MAGAZINE?! And each cover has one of “us” on it? And I nominate YOU to be the first covergirl. You beam everything a covergirl should be and have.

Thank you Allyson! Welcome to the fitbloggin world, it’s a great place to be! Thank you for that nomination
I totally agree with you! I work in magazines, and I must say that I think publications are starting to adhere to this notion — FITNESS magazine is having their “Face of Fitness” contest, where a reader will be on the cover, and Seventeen magazine is having their “Pretty Amazing” contest, which is basically the same thing. FITNESS also doesn’t put a ton of celebs on their covers, which I really like. They have models on the cover, yes, but they look like every day, fit girls that are just like the readers. Thumbs up for this idea!

Thank you Samantha. Magazines need to cover people who are real, authentic, and working on themselves and getting fit. It’s great they’re showing people who are fit– but America and the world needs to see people who are working on themselves, not just people are are already there!
I feel the same way! I’d like to see real women (and I’ve felt this way for years!) who are celebrities for being rock stars in other things than singing and acting.
Chelsea @ Go Chelsea Go! recently posted..Strawberry Sweat is now Go Chelsea Go!

Oh yeah I totally agree! I want to see ‘real’ people on the cover of magazines!
Hmmmm…maybe we should start a magazine of our own for our own little community we have going on here in Twitterland and the Blogosphere!

Thank you girl! Yes Fitbloggers monthly! Say what?!
I agree with you. Seeing pencil thin celebrities on magazines covers who have been air brushed with their makeup professionally done irks me. It sends the wrong message to women and to men. This is really a huge pet peeve of mine…it sets the expectations that are not realistic…even to the models. They are being airbrushed for heaven’s sake!!
I think is also sends the wrong message to men. It makes them lust after something that isn’t real and some men actually put pressure on their signficant others to acheive those false standards. It’s sad.
I would make the arguement that a curvy woman is WAAAY more attracted than some waif who has the body of a 12 year old boy with fake boobs.
