I remember that Tuesday morning quite clearly. I was in 10th grade going from 2nd period to 3rd period, well i don’t exactly remember what class it was. I remember them coming in to tell us that the 1st tower had been hit.  I was confused at first. I thought that they meant: there was something wrong with a plane and it had crashed into the tower, like whe sometimes plane’s have problems and crash land into field’s or bodies of water! BOY WAS I WRONG!

The rest of the day and west was completely numbing. It was completely unreal to be watching what was going on, and what our fellow Americans were going through, and not really be able to do much about it! It struck a cord with me that day, for a compassion i have in my heart for helping people (Side note: I will be forever impacted by this day– this is one of the reasons i became a nurse– being able to help people on a day in, day out basis).  I had some classmates who had family members on the east coast, and they were eventually able to get in touch with them! That was relieving to find out some good news, amidst all of the sad news.  I cried a lot that week. That’s for sure.

I’m so thankful and grateful for the firemen and firewomen and police officers, and to the men and women that lost their lives that day. I will forever be proud to be an American. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE!

I will forever bleed red, white, and blue.

One thing i’ve learned over the past 10 years: We need to live the best life we can, and be the best person we can be! Cherish life because it can be gone in a second. Live for those who are gone. Love those who are still here and surround you in your daily life.  Be thankful for what you have been given. Go out there and LIVE LIFE!
