Birthday
I’m baaaaaaack :)
1Hi friends!
It’s quite a while since i’ve really blogged! But the down time and break has been very much needed! Work has been crazy, but good, and busy. 2 of the girls on my medical team have been having issues, so they’ve been out a lot, and i’ve been working more over the past few weeks! Phewwww. Glad things are calming down-ish.
Austin’s doing great. Late winter/early spring/spring is my favorite time of the year, while besides football season
Flowers and trees blooming, grass growing, sun shining, cool air, good times. AHHHH my fave.
This year was the first time in my life i had work on Lundi Gras / Mardi Gras / Ash Wednesday! Gosh that was no fun AT ALL! It was also the first year i missed partaking in Mardi Gras! NEVER AGAIN! No matter where I’ll be living. I want to go home for Mardi Gras! Do one day of cajun/country Mardi Gras, some Mardi Gras in Lafayette, and New Orleans Mardi Gras! So much fun! There is so much more to Mardi Gras than boobs and beads, people! There’s dancing, cooking, eating, drinking, being with friends and family, parades, fun signs, balls, getting dolled and dressed up, the beauty of celebrating life!
I view life as one should celebrate Mardi Gras! Living life the best that you can, with all you have! No regrets. No looking back. Sure life may not be great all the time, but that’s okay. Just do the best you can, with what you have.
Being single sucks sometimes, but other times it’s great! Like if i was married or with kids, i wouldn’t just be able to go for a drive on a Sunday afternoon driving through Texas Hill Country
But like 2 wise friends have reminded me this week, there is a guy out there for me! And he’s been waiting for me for almost his entire life, like i have been waiting for him for almost 26 years! whoa. Crazy awesomeness, but beautiful!
This weekend Austin won’t know what hit ‘em! Some amazing bloggers that i know and love are coming to town! We’re gonna have such a good time! If you’re in Austin, let me know! I’d love for you to come meet us and have some good times too! Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler! I can’t wait to meet Holly, Jana, Megan, Emily, Savannah, and Rochelle! Jenn– we’re definitely going to miss you this weekend!
Two or three weeks ago Holly, Jana, and I started having iphone group text messages! Oh my gosh! So much fun! I love those ladies! They’re so many kinds of amazing and i can’t wait to meet them in THREEEEE days
<3
Yes i realized i haven’t talked about food, eating, and exercising! Well those have kind of been at a halt over the past few weeks! I’ll be working on small changes now, making changes stick, and not giving up when i want to, or when i get overwhelmed! Makes life-long changes is something easy that comes with time, and it’s something i know that i can do!
Oh yeahhhh— in 10 days i’ll be 26! Yes i said TWENTY-SIX! WHoaaaaaaa. That’s a BIG DEAL, ya’ll! In case you didn’t know it, I lurrrrrre birthdays! LOTS!
<3
half-birthday
6Today is my half-birthday!!!!
I love celebrating birthdays- half, quarter, or whole! Whatever they may be
It’s not so much the aging and getting older, it’s the celebrating the life of the person! People tell me i won’t be so excited as i get older… blah blah blah. I’ll ALWAYS be a birthday loving girl
You get to celebrate the fact that the person was brought into this world!!!! What could be better?!?
Now for a few flashback photos
Happy FRIDAY!
Do you love birthdays? Do you celebrate your half-birthday?
what a wonderful time.
12This weekend was amazing, and so much fun. And it included probably a little bit more Southern Comfort than necessary
But great times indeed!
Friday night… my friend Annette turned 21 and she had a super fun party to celebrate her life!
I learned that Southern Comfort will bring a craaaazy good time
haha. Good times in deed. I further learned, or further re-iterated that i DO NOT need a boy to dance with. I have plenty enough fun dancing by myself and teaching other people how to do
It would be nice to have a boy to dance with; but i definitely DO NOT need one!
Saturday morning, Annette and I decided we wanted some beignets for breakfast!!! So off we went to Coffee Call, for some deliciousness and chocolate milk!!!
Yummmy and not so healthy greatness =)
Saturday evening, i had dinner with my beautiful best friend, Shannon, her husband, Michael, and their incredibly handsome, cute, and heart breaking 5.5 month old son Benedict!!!!! He’s soooooo cute
He’s like my nephew, except not blood related
Love the little man!
- He already loves the camera :)
- soooooo cute :)
- What a beautiful sunset!
- My super excited party face :)
- The beautiful, birthday girl!
- Notice the redness of my face … this is what happens when i drink =)
- Gotta love the crown!
- yay for friends, fridays, and birthday cupcakes CAKE :)
We had a great time… catching up, telling stories, laughing, LOTS OF laughing, watching Benedict
It was a great and beautiful weekend! Such great weather too! I wish it could be REAL SPRING WEATHER allllll the time
How was your weekend?!
Did anything super different or fun?!
Birthdays are my favorite.
12Tuesday night, i decided it was long due for putting some color back into my hair. Time for some light auburn red color!
Then off to bed I went. I woke up on birthday morning with my phone beeping with text messages, facebook posts, tweets, phone calls, and voicemails! Such a wonderful way to start my morning! I walked downstairs, there was a super sweet card from my roommate (THANK EM!), and our friend who was staying with us this week, told me there was a package that arrived for me. I wasn’t expecting anything (or so i thought– my brain was blank haha). I walk into the kitchen to find……..
Thank you, Chobani, for the wonderful and delicious samples! Blog post coming later after i eat them all
I showered, got dressed, went to meet mom for Mass and for getting ashes. Church was awesome as always. Then we went to visit my maternal grandparents, Momo and Honey Boy! They’re really awesome. On April 18th, they will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary!!! Pretty amazing people
They’re so precious, or as we would say SHAAAAAAA.
Afterwards, mom brought me home. I had a little rest and FB and twitter time. Then went to mom’s house to help with my birthday dinner and dessert prepping.
Dinner was already ready! YUMS!
It was time to start getting ready my cake
I made strawberry & blueberry angel food cake
YUMS!!!
Dinner was grilled shrimp with Roumalade sauce, Zucchini and Asparagus Salad, with rice dressing / Jambalaya healthy combo with whole grain rice with small amounts of chicken! SO GOOD!

Mom wanted to try some of MY new lotion that she gave me for my birthday.. but i knew she wouldn't give it back if i let her try it! Oh, and apparently we make the same faces =)
the wonderful faces of blowing out the candles =)
What a great day it was! I plan on continuing to celebrate my birth for the rest of the week and month =)
In Honor of my birthday, here’s a preview of Brittany in photos:

Hanging out in Barbuda. We lived there for 3 months when i was 2 and sisters were 5! Dad was doing medical missions!
Phewww. long post, ya’ll. What can i say i love birthdays and photography!
XOXO.
